ATG Quirky: Google-backed drones will drop library books so kids in Virginia can do their summer reading

According to Rachel Lerman, a technology reporter for the Washington Post, “some kids will be getting their summer reading lists via drone delivery this year.

It seems that Kelly Passek, a middle-school librarian in Virginia, has been inspired! She came up with up with an “out of the box” solution to get kids to read this summer: “deliver library books by drone”.

After realizing how fast a local drone delivery service delivered packages, meals, and other items, Ms. Passek, “petitioned the company to take on library books, too. The company said yes, and the first books fly out this week.”
