ATG Quirkies: Hemingway was a Terrible Bullfighter!

The celebrated American author admitted as much in a letter that recently fetched $25,000 at auction in a Bonhams’s New York sale of Fine Books and Manuscripts.

Written to his father from a Paris cafe, most of the “letter’s eight pages deal with the more tranquil, domestic sides of life, especially those involving Hemingway’s infant son…” However, Hemingway also touches on his adventures in bullfighting, which contrary to what you might think, “he was awful at.” He admits in his “Dear Dad” letter that he was well past the age to take up it up seriously.
