Kristen Arnett is back at the Literary Hub website with more tales from the library as she reminisces about her first day sitting behind the bold-font REFERENCE nameplate answering questions. Of course, her first patron approaches and asks in hushed tones, “Where is the bathroom?”

That story, along with the other experiences Kristen relates, all ring true.  She shares a number of fun “reference gems”, and wisely concludes that “working the reference desk is about human interaction” and “forming a relationship between yourself and a patron based on a common goal.”

(Thanks, as always, to John Riley of Gabriel Books for providing ATG Quirkies)
