ATG Quirkies: The Ampersand: Paperclip of the Alphabet

by | Nov 13, 2017 | 0 comments

In this post from Black Lion Banner, editor Jonny Gibson traces the history of the ampersand and tells how it has risen “to hipster fame” and been “catapulted … from the sketchbooks of type designers onto just about every printable surface you can imagine, the variations of which seem endless.”

Mr Gibson admits that “designers in all fields both love and hate the ampersand …, but very few know much about its history, or intended use,” a situation that he does his best to remedy with this post.
