So you were surprised to learn from our last quirky that procrastination spurs the creative impulse! Well, it turns out that boredom is really the secret ingredient to creativity.
And according to this post in Open Culture, “the time has come to realize how much creativity … depends on boredom.” Again citing a good bit of current research, the article notes that boredom has gotten a bad rap and that it may actually be the “‘push’ that motivates us to switch goals and projects.”
So if you find yourself yawning profusely during that next meeting, don’t despair. You’re probably hatching that next great idea while the boss drones on.
