According to this post in the NY Times, the folks at KinderGuides must think that it’s a good idea.  They are publishing “a new series of books that aims to make challenging adult literary classics accessible to very young readers.” In addition to On the RoadKinderGuides has released “picture book versions of Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea and Truman Capote’s melancholy novella Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And they’re not stopping there. Next on the list are “Paulo Coelho’s best-selling novel The Alchemist, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, J. D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye and Harper Lee’sTo Kill a Mockingbird.”
