According to infoDOCKETDr Jessica Gardner has been revealed as the new Librarian of Cambridge University Library – becoming the second female in the history of the institution to hold the role.

Dr Gardner is currently Director of Library Services and University Librarian at the University of Bristol, and will take up her new post at Cambridge in April 2017. She follows in the footsteps of Anne Jarvis, who was University Librarian at Cambridge from 2009 until September 2016…”

Bookseller reports that “Jan Reichelt, co-founder and managing director of Mendeley, now part of Elsevier, has left the company “to pursue other interests”.

Elsevier confirmed Reichelt’s departure and said that Gaby Appleton has now moved over to become managing director from her previous role as head of strategy at Mendeley.

After working as an advisor to the supervisory board of SAP, Reichelt started Mendeley as a small start-up in 2008 with two co-founders. The platform for organising and sharing papers has since grown into a large social network for scientists and researchers, attracting millions of users. It was acquired by Elsevier for a reported £65m in April 2013…”

Research Councils UK (RCUK) has announced the appointment of Prof. Stuart Taberner to the new role of Director of International and Interdisciplinary Research.

Prof. Taberner is currently Professor in German at the University of Leeds where he leads interdisciplinary programmes and is a leader in Official Development Assistance (ODA) related research, particularly in Africa. He will join RCUK from January 16, 2017 on an 18-month secondment…”

On December 1, 2016, Ann Mehan Crosse, SSP’s Deputy Executive Director stepped down and Amy Lydic assumed the role of General Manager for SSP.  Amy works out of Kellen’s Chicago office, however, the other SSP/Kellen staff, Jennifer Lanphere, Jan Kalne, and Linda Pocsik, will remain in the Denver office. SSP’s mailing address and telephone numbers will remain the same…

Amy joined the Kellen staff in July 2013 and serves as the Administrative Director for two other associations, providing staff support which includes strategic planning, membership management, website content management, member communications, annual meeting program development, credentialing, volunteer management, and policy and procedures development.

Prior to coming to Kellen, Amy worked for 15 years at the American Oil Chemists’ Society. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology (Pre-Law) from Valparaiso University, a Certificate in Fundraising Management from DePaul University, and a Certificate in Association Management from ASAE University…”
