ATG Quirkies: The Changing World of Cruise Ship Libraries

by | Jun 15, 2016 | 0 comments

Once upon a time libraries were a featured attraction on every cruise ship.  But with today’s e-readers, tablets and smartphones, not to mention competition from more exotic forms of entertainment like “climbing walls, ice-skating rinks, hand-carved carousels, 4-D theaters…”, etc., libraries have lost some of their luster.

However, as this article in the Washington Post shows, there is still hope for the library-loving cruise-goer.  Travel writer Carol Sottili offers bibliophiles her list of the best ships for traditionalists, scholars, techies, and multi-takers.  In short, there’s something here for everyone.

(Thanks, as always, to John Riley of Gabriel Books for providing ATG Quirkies!)
