ATG Quirkies: Comic Sans: Everyone’s favorite and most reviled font at the Boring Festival

According to this post in the GuardianVincent Connare is in many ways the ideal keynote speaker for the fourth annual Boring Conference.

And who is Vincent  Connare and why does he deserve the keynote slot in such a prestigious  conference?  Well, ComicSansSpec3 - en.wikipedia.orgMr. Connare is the inventor of Comic Sans, “a typeface that is arguably both the most popular and the most reviled on the planet.”  And fortunately for us, this piece provides a blow by blow account of how he created the world’s most-hated font.  Fascinating stuff!

This year’s Boring Conference must have been quite a show as Mr. Connare was in competition with a guy cooking pancakes on a couple of clothes irons, a women presenting a comprehensive PowerPoint on her two years working in an ice-cream van and two musicians playing “the endings of 25 different national anthems – all of them exactly the same.”

(Thanks to John Riley of Gabriel Books  for providing ATG’s daily quirkies.)
