NASIG NASIG Selects Sol Maria Lopez for 2014 Horizon Award

Library Technology Guides reports that “Sol Maria Lopez from the University of Texas at El Paso has been awarded the 2014 North American Serials Interest Group (NASIG) Horizon Award. The award, sponsored by EBSCO Information Services, recognizes a promising new information professional; it covers the cost of travel, registration, and lodging for three nights while the recipient attends the NASIG Annual Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas, May 1-4.

Each year, the Horizon Award gives a first-time NASIG conference attendee the opportunity to advance within his or her profession by networking with other attendees from a wide range of fields within the serials information chain, including vendors, publishers, and non-traditional serialists. The award encourages continued participation in NASIG conferences and events, and also includes a one-year membership to NASIG.

Applicants must be first-time attendees of the NASIG Annual Conference and hold a position working with some aspect of serials within the information profession. This year’s applicants submitted essays addressing the 2014 NASIG conference theme: “Taking Stock and Taming New Frontiers”…”

Ann-Christe Galloway reports in College and Research Libraries News that “Heidi Lerner, metadata librarian for Hebraica and Judaica at Stanford University Libraries, is the recipient of the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) Life Membership Award. The AJL award is granted in recognition of outstanding leadership and professional contributions to the association and to the profession of Jewish librarianship. The awards committee noted Lerner’s longtime involvement in the profession as well as the many important contributions on Hebraica/Judaica cataloging matters.”college research libraries news - crln.acrl.org

As Senior Account Manager, Megan will be focused on leading the teams in the Academic and Law Firm library markets.
