OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The Library Information and Publication Unit based in the Division of Information, Evidence, Research and Innovation (DIR/LLP) provides a comprehensive range of library and information services to Member States and WHO staff, including maintenance of a database serving as a reference; acting as referral centre for questions relating to the work of WHO and responding to information queries; applying available information technology; develop new knowledge management mechanisms and tools for Member States and WHO staff through newly established mechanisms.
Description of duties:
The incumbent has full responsibility to index and catalogue in the WHO Global Bibliographic Database (WHOLIS), to apply available information technology and adher to international bibliographic standards. The incumbent works with divisions and programmes to assess and evaluate information needs, selects information providers based on programme needs, disseminates all relevant information and information products from internal and external sources, and ensures access to information and information tools. The incumbent researches and develops knowledge management tools and mechanisms in collaboration with staff in EURO and at HQ. The incumbent will be responsible for setting up, maintaining and managing a physical library at EURO.
