From IGI Global, Jan. 28, 2011:
IGI Global, an international publishing company specializing in high-quality research publications on all aspects of information technology management, is pleased to announce the winners of their giveaways from the ALA Midwinter Meeting in San Diego, CA. Carol Nurse, of Montclair State University, USA, won the iPad and Linda Eells, of the University of Minnesota, USA, won the $100 Visa gift card. Congratulations to both winners!
Carol has been a librarian for over 20 years, working in many settings including public, academic, and special libraries, as well as for a library association and a library vendor. She received Masters degrees from Columbia University (MSLS) and Montclair State University (M.S., Nutrition). In all of her positions, she has been involved with training students and librarians on the use of technology, so winning the iPad will allow her “to become familiar with another gadget!” She currently works in the Reference Department of the Sprague Library at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. As the liaison to freshmen students, she’s observed many using iPads and other tablet style PCs, noting their growing popularity, especially since Montclair State University has such a large commuter student body and portable devices are so desirable.
Linda is Head of the Forestry and Entomology, Fisheries, and Wildlife Libraries at the University of Minnesota, where she began her professional library career in December 2002. She is an active member of the library community, currently serving as Chair of the ALA-ACRL Science & Technology Section (STS), and formerly as Chair of the Minnesota Library Association’s Academic & Research Libraries Division (ARLD). She earned a MLIS at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a M.S. in Conservation Biology at the University of Minnesota. Her research interests include the curation of born-digital information, digital collections, and scholarly communication.
Be sure to visit IGI Global at ACRL 2011 (Booth #853) for the next chance to win one of their great prizes!
