Report from the Special Library Association Pharmacy & Health Technology conference

by | May 4, 2010 | 0 comments

This year’s Special Library Pharmacy & Health Technology conference was held in historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Sofitel Hotel. The Sofitel Hotel is located downtown and was a great location for the conference with easy access for attendees to shop and get a Philly Steak & Cheese during their stay.

The conference was a three day venue filled with informative workshops as well as great speakers, to mention a couple, Dr. Tom Doszkocs, NLM, spoke about Semantic Search Engines for Health Information and Henning Nielsen, Head of the Library & Information Centre at Novo Nordisk and President of the PDR. Pharmaceutical Documentation Ring, spoke about (PDR) & their direction: what are they trying to accomplish and what does it mean to you?

The conference had more than 100 attendees from a variety of major health organizations and pharmaceutical companies. In between the workshops and speakers there was plenty of time for the attendees to stop by The Reference Shelf’s booth to brows the face out displayed titles and journals and to pick up copies of publishers brochures and materials that we handed out! Having GREAT material on hand is one of the biggest advantages that The Reference Shelf can offer. The specific business segment meant that there was a targeted audience for material exposure.

As the Special Library Association Pharmacy & Health Technology conference came to a close, there was a very satisfied feeling that we at The Reference Shelf had been able to represent our publishers successfully and provide a need in the library community. Thank you all for the opportunity to represent you and your efforts, with out you the library community would not have as many of their needs filled as easily!

We look forward to continuing to provide you great service and building lasting business relationships and to help assist our clients by providing affordable marketing exposure for your titles, journals, magazines and brochures. Please see the attached list of attendees contact information and the 2010 conference schedule and brochure. We have so many great conferences and events to look forward to this year!
