I am inspired to start blogging after reading George Orwell's. (see orwelldiaries.wordpress.com) Obviously, Orwell was not a blogger but he could have been one had he lived in our time.
So -- here goes! -- It is rainy and gloomy in Charleston today courtesy of Tropical Storm Fay. But it is also alleviating our drought status. We had a great visit from Cindy Human of Midwest Library Services who's going to Egypt on vacation shortly (I wonder if she has talked to John Tagler about the trip he took to Egypt many years ago? I forgot to tell her to ask him for tips! Oops!) We are also getting ready for a visit from Steve O'Dell of Ebsco (without Geico).

2008-06-27 With all of the discussion and controversy over libraries lending Amazon's Kindle, we are interested to hear what Against the Grain readers think. We have posted a new poll on the front page to see how many libraries have bought a Kindle, and we have created a new forum where you can chime in about and tell us what you think.

2008-04-09 We currently do not have any way to offer IP access to our subscribers, we are investigating ways to implement this but it will not be implemented in the near future. Please remember that in order to have an online subscription, you must be subscribed to the print subscription and have given us a valid email address. Simply let us know if you are a print subscriber and are interested in getting an online subscription.
