 Informing American Librarians about the Euro: An Introduction
Beau David Case — The euro was introduced on January 1 of this year, and although coins and bills are not yet in circulation, the euro is a serious international currency.

Bill Burros — The launch of the euro is a truly historic event not only for the international monetary system, but also for European integration. In addition to its obvious economic impacts, this pooling of monetary sovereignty demonstrates great political commitment.

 How the Euro will Affect the Buying Power of American Librarians
by Geert Visscher — Regarding microeconomical effects, we should not expect to see serious savings in the field of lower transaction and hedging costs. It is questionable whether productivity gains resulting from a reallocation of production resources over the eurozone will play an important role in the determination of prices charged to the end user. And it can safely be said that the introduction of the euro should not have significant effects on the buying power of the US librarian.
