ATG Quirkies: A Native American Language That Was Used Across the North American Continent

So what is this mysterious language? Well, we’ve all seen it in countless TV Westerns and movies.

And this post tells its story.  Native American Sign Language which “is considered to be one of the earliest and most comprehensive forms of communication in the world” developed to meet a real need.  As Europeans began to settle in America and Native Americans migrated to the Great Plains, some 600 different Native American dialects plus an influx of European languages demanded  a common way to communicate. Native American Sign Language emerged to fit the bill.  And it was the only form of communication that was used from coast to coast.

Check out this post and read the rest of the story!
