ATG Quirkies: Need a Necktie, Puppet, Telescope? Talk to These Librarians

Here is a fun post from Mental Floss that puts the spotlight on eight inspiring and innovative librarians “who lend out more than books.”

The Kitchen Library board

Lucky patrons in Queens, NY can drop into Lauren Comito’s “tie-brary” and “check out a tie with interview tips and tie-tying instructions printed inside the box.” Or if you live in Toronto and want to try out a new recipe but don’t have a fully equipped kitchen, head out to Dayna Boyer’s Kitchen Library for that needed crepe maker. Are you an aspiring rock star but don’t have the right “axe”? Well you might want to spend some time browsing Barbary Sanderson’s Guitar Lending Collection in Ohio. Oh! And did we mention Theresa Linnihan’s Puppet Free Lending Library in Brooklyn, NY; Catalina Achim’s Lending Library of Science Kits in Pittsburg; and official telescope librarian David Horne at the RCA Telescope Library in Portland, OR.

(Thanks, as always, to John Riley of Gabriel Books for providing ATG Quirkies!)
