ATG QUIRKIES: Who Just Read That Book?

library checkout slipOnce upon a time this was a question easily answered and one reason blogger Jonathan Coppersmith says he misses old fashioned library cards. Jonathan points to his days as an undergraduate at Princeton when library cards and the process for checking out a book created a circulation record where “not only could I see when the book was last checked out, I could see who used it, creating a tie to past readers.”

Of course, he recognizes the obvious concerns about privacy that the old system raises but admits that “I miss seeing how many readers preceded me.  My reading is a bit more isolated as a result…”
