“David Lewis, dean of University Library at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, is now head of the statewide organization representing all academic libraries in nonprofit institutions of higher education.

Academic Libraries of Indiana installed Lewis as president during the organization’s 10th annual meeting in early May. Established in 2003, Academic Libraries of Indiana is dedicated to improving Indiana’s information infrastructure and supporting economic development by making the scholarly record accessible in support of grants, contracts, projects, entrepreneurial ventures and government initiatives…”

Publishers Weekly reports that “Bob Miller has a new job. The former publisher of Workman will be starting at Macmillan in July, overseeing what Macmillan is calling a new “standalone company” focused on publishing nonfiction in the U.S.

Miller, who’s best known in the industry for founding Hyperion in 1990 and for a three-year stint with Workman, will be reporting directly to Macmillan CEO John Sargent in his new tole. Miller’s company, which does not yet have a name, will be publishing approximately three titles per month, launching its list in 2015…”

InfoDOCKET reports that “after nearly seven years at the helm of the DC Public Library, today Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper announced plans to retire later this year.

Cooper will remain chief librarian for the next few months until the library board names a successor. During that time, Cooper will oversee the increase in library hours and the initial phase of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library renovation, funding that is included in Mayor Vincent C. Gray’s proposed fiscal year 2014 library budget and pending approval by City Council…”
