According to GalleyCat “thousands of library patrons around New York City have mailed letters trying to avoid $47 million in budget cuts at New York Public Library.”

GalleyCat also notes reports that “Penguin will pay $75 million in damages and “costs and fees to resolve all antitrust claims relating to eBook pricing”–settling with 33 state attorneys general and consumers in a suit led by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro. 
The suit revolved around allegations of price fixing with the agency model for eBook pricing…”

  • Ebooks comprised 15% of all book purchases in Canada.
  • Ebook sales peaked in the first quarter of 2012 at 17.6% of purchases and steadily declined each subsequent quarter.
  • Kobo is winning the e-reading device market share battle in Canada with 25.2%. iPad is at 14.0% and Kindle at 18.4%…
