Copyright Alert System to Warn, Then Punish, Peer-to-Peer File Sharing 
Information Today reports that “after months of delays, a coalition of content providers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) launched the Copyright Alert System, a “six strikes” structure that will notify, then potentially punish users for illegal file sharing. The system works through the monitoring of peer-to-peer file sharing services by content providers, who in turn will notify ISPs, who will send warnings to their account holders…
Europeana’s Newspaper Project Begins Its Second Year

Georgia Archives Transfer to University System One Step Closer
InfoDOCKET also reports from an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “the University System of Georgia moved closer to managing the Georgia Archives under a bill the Senate Higher Education Committee passed Wednesday. House Bill 287 would transfer the archives from the Secretary of State’s Office, where the program faced steep cuts because of lagging state revenue…”
Wolters Kluwer Health “announced a collaboration between Lippincott’s Nursing Solutions and the American Association of Long Term Care Nursing (AALTCN) to develop a new point-of-care support solution for nurses working in nursing homes and other long-term care settings. The collaboration is creating a new category of the Lippincott’s Nursing Procedures and Skills product designed to meet the needs of long-term care (LTC) nurses…”
OverDrive Announces Library eBook Leaders for 2012
OverDrive has “released data highlighting the libraries and schools within its worldwide network achieving the greatest growth and exposure for their eBook and audiobook catalogs.
