Correction. We are not “required” to pay for anything. However, if we don’t pay, our users won’t have access to those years. However, we do contest things when we can and in one case, at least, won on behalf of all folks buying the back year archive…We argued that licensees already had paid for a few years that had been rolled into the “for a fee” archive…And the society gave in- yeah. So, it doesn’t hurt to question and ask as new archive packages are announced…
