This is a reminder to those who are interested to register for the Independent Voices webinar scheduled for today, from 1-2 pm Eastern time. Here’s the link to register.
“Independent Voices from Reveal Digital is a four-year open access project to digitize alternative press materials produced by feminists, dissident GIs, campus radicals, Native Americans, LGBTs, Black Power advocates, and more. When completed, the collection will be the largest digital collection of alternative press titles, with complete runs of over 1,000 titles and 1,000,000 pages. Jeff Moyer from Reveal Digital will present this webinar about the creation of Independent Voices and explain the new business model that will make this collection a reality…”
LYRASIS is providing administrative support for this project as part of its ongoing support for open access initiatives.
A new training video on Advanced Searching of GPO’s Federal Digital System (FDsys) is now available.
The video focuses on utilizing the FDsys Advanced Search function, using metadata to return precise results, and ways to further improve search results. The video is available on the beta Web site for FDLP.gov at <http://beta.fdlp.gov> and on gpo.gov at <http://www.gpo.gov/fdsysinfo/instructional_video.htm>. Please note options for closed captioning, enlarging the video, and volume control from the menu in the bottom right-hand corner of the video screen.
All are encouraged to view and share this FDsys tutorial. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements of future training modules.
