NEWSFLASH! Hyde Park Debate Video Now Available!!
Those of you who missed the first Hyde Park Debate at the 2012 Charleston Conference can stop kicking yourselves. The full video of this lively and informed debate has just been posted on the conference website.
Needless to say, the Hyde Park Debate: The Traditional Research Library is Dead featuring Rick Anderson, Interim Dean, Marriott Library, University of Utah; and Derek Law, Professor Emeritus, Strathclyde University was one of the big hits of the Conference. As you would expect Rick and Derek offered impassioned, witty and diametrically opposed positions on the issue at hand. Adding a little spice to the proceedings, the audience weighed in voting “yea” or “nay” both before and after the debate resulting in a winner being declared.
However, you’ll have to check out the video to see who came out on top – or you can cheat and take a look at Don Hawkins‘ insightful blog post summarizing the debate. Either way, it’s well worth the effort.
