Cornell Puts a Lawn in the Library

LJ reports on a possible new trend in library interior design.  In an attempt to help students “chill” during stressful final exams, the Cornell library provided “a dose of contact with nature” by “installing a ”green sward” or indoor lawn.

The article goes on to describe how Gilad Meron, a fellow with Cornell’s Center for Engaged Learning designed and installed his “brainchild”.

The Cornell library website notes that “the lawn and plants in Olin Library are part of a larger project on campus from the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis  to foster a healthy educational environment by creating natural spaces in high traffic areas.” (Mr Meron is a recent graduate of the Department.)
