Caught My Eye: The Spine Nine: Gabriel Books
This is a fascinating interview with John Riley owner of Gabriel Books and Eastern Regional Sales Manager for BUSCA, Inc. Oh! Did we mention that John is also a frequent contributor to Against the Grain and one of the driving forces in the highly entertaining Charleston Conference skits. In any case, the interview appears on Get a Spine, a website that promotes old bookstores and is one of their Spine Nine series of Q&A’s with bookstore owners. As you might expect, John makes a number of insightful observations as he reflects on his life as a bookseller, but what comes across most vividly is John’s continuing love affair with books.
After reading the interview and learning more about John and Gabriel Books don’t be surprised if you find yourself drawn to Northampton, MA for a laid back visit to Gabriel Books with its “cozy space, books everywhere, and healthy section of classics.”
