Aux Amateurs de Livres and Librairie Internationale Touzot Merge
According to a letter to the library community dated July 16th 2012 Aux Amateurs de Livres and Librairie Internationale Touzot have decided to merge. The contents of the letter explaining the decision are below:
Dear Librarians,
After thirty years devoted to the development of French language collections in libraries worldwide, Jean-Denis Touzot has decided to concentrate his activity on the sale of rare and antiquarian books.
In the late Spring, he turned over control of the export business for Jean Touzot Librairie Internationale to Charles-Edouard de Broglie, who comes to the bookshop after a professional career in publishing and printing.
At the end of June, Charles-Edouard de Broglie made a proposal to partner with the Librairie Aux Amateurs de Livres International in order to more effectively respond to the continuing evolution of library service demands and to anticipate a future of increasing electronic resources.
All parties agreed that the most effective solution would be a complete merger. Therefore, as of the 1st of July, the Librairie Internationale Touzot, directed by Charles-Edouard de Broglie, and the Librairie Aux Amateurs de Livres International have now merged all activities under the direction of Gilles de La Rochefoucauld.
Jean-Denis Touzot has been involved in these ongoing discussions and will continue most notably to manage the selection of approval plan materials for our clients as he has done for many years. Your other key contacts for the Librairie Touzot remain the same, either through our American representative, Robert Robbins, or our director of operations at the bookshop, Lionel Chaumontet. All email and postal addresses will remain unchanged for the time being and we will be sure to keep you informed of future steps in the merger process, including relocation to a more appropriate facility and any changes to your contact lists as the two staffs come together.
We believe that by joining forces we are taking an essential step in serving the needs of our library clients and this merger presents a terrific opportunity to expand our service offerings and strengthen our promotion of French culture and French language collections abroad. We remain, of course, at your disposal for any and all questions and we thank you for your continued confidence. We assure you that we are taking every necessary measure to continue to merit this confidence.
Best Regards,
Jean-Denis Touzot Charles-Edouard de Broglie Gilles de La Rochefoucauld
