Newsflash: COUNTER 10th Anniversary Travel Awards – Attend the 2012 Charleston Conference and the UK Serials Group Annual in 2013
COUNTER 10th Anniversary Travel Awards
2012 marks the 10th anniversary of COUNTER’s launch in 2002. To celebrate this important milestone we are offering 4 COUNTER Travel Awards for younger information professionals who are employed either in academic libraries or in smaller, not-for-profit publishers, to enable them to attend important conferences that will contribute to their professional development, and for which they may not otherwise be able to obtain funding.
As one of COUNTER’s aims is to encourage publishers and librarians to work together internationally, the four COUNTER Travel Awards will be made as follows:
- two awards to provide funding for younger information professionals from outside North America to attend the 2012 Charleston Conference (7-10 November 2012, Charleston, SC)
- two awards to provide funding for younger information professionals from outside the UK to attend the 2013 UK Serials Group Annual Conference (8-10 April 2013, Bournemouth, UK)
Eligibility
Information professionals who are employed either in academic libraries or in smaller, not-for-profit publishers ( with total annual revenues less than $US5 million/£3.3 million) and who graduated from college or university, for the first time, with a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree no earlier than 2005, will be eligible to enter this competition for a COUNTER Travel Award.
Each Travel Award is worth £1,000 (approx.US$1,500)
The winners of the COUNTER Travel Awards will be decided by the COUNTER Executive Committee on the basis of Tweets (of no more than 140 characters) that best state the benefits that COUNTER has brought to the world of online information.
The decision of the COUNTER Executive Committee will be final.
May the best tweets win!
