ATG Hot Topic of the Week: The Great Age of Librarians
by Jonathan Harwell, Georgia Southern University
There’s just one really hot topic I’ve noticed this week, and that’s Scott Plutchak’s thoughtful and visionary article about the future of librarianship. (What else would you expect from this dynamic personality we all know from his provocative talks at the Charleston Conference?) It’s based on a major lecture he delivered to the Medical Library Association back in May. He introduced the open-access article on his blog on Feb. 10, and vendors and librarians have been forwarding it around this week.
Set aside some time to take it in, and let us know what you think. Is he on the mark?
