Kent State Library School to Honor Alumni Excellence on Oct. 17
The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Kent State University announces its alumni award winners for 2011, including honors for Alumni of the Year, Friend of the Year and nine other awards based on areas of scholarship and specialization. The recipients will be recognized at a dinner program on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the Kent Student Center. Details about the dinner are available at www.kent.edu/slis/alumni.

Nobel Prize in Physics for 2011 Awarded to Wiley Authors

John Wiley & Sons, Inc., (NYSE:JWa) (NYSE:JWb), is pleased to learn that the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2011 with one half to Professor Saul Perlmutter and the other half to Professors Brian P. Schmidt and Adam G. Riess.

Sage Begins Publishing Two Leading Psychiatry Journals

SAGE will begin publishing Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry and Australasian Psychiatry from 2012 on behalf of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

EBSCO Awards Scholarship for Librarian to Attend 2011 Charleston Conference

ASM International Announces Its Officer and Board Nominees

ASM International, The Materials Information Society, has announced its officer nominees to serve one-year terms with Dr. Christopher Berndt, President-Elect, for the coming year. Highlighting the list is Dr. Gernant E. Maurer, FASM, as Vice President. Under ASM bylaws, Maurer stands to succeed Berndt as President for the 2012-13 term. ASM also announced three trustees-elect to serve on ASM’s board for three-year terms through 2014.

Springer and the Korean Physical Society sign co-publishing agreement

Springer and the Korean Physical Society (KPS) will collaborate to publish the society’s official publication, the Journal of the Korean Physical Society (JKPS), beginning in 2012. It is dedicated to disseminating and publishing significant and original research results in all branches of physics from scientists based in Korea and around the world.

Project MUSE Releases Details on New Book Collections

Details on the Project MUSE Book Collections are now available. Going live on January 1, 2012, the collections will feature over 14,000 electronic titles from 66 … university press and scholarly publishers. The collections will provide libraries, researchers, and students access to … book-length scholarship, including both new and classic titles.  Book content is fully integrated with the journal titles in MUSE’s electronic journal collections.

SAGE begins publishing Drug Information Association Journal
