New TV and digital media principal analyst joins Informa.
London, UK – July 11, 2011 – Informa Telecoms & Media is delighted to announce that Nick Thomas, one of the most respected analysts in the media market, has joined the company as a principal analyst covering TV and digital media.
“Nick has a well-deserved reputation as an industry thought leader, having worked as a TV and media content producer, senior executive and analyst since the dawn of the Web,” said Rob Gallagher, Head of Broadband & TV Research for Informa Telecoms & Media.
Thomas has worked extensively with market-leading media and telecoms companies across Europe and the US, helping them deal with the disruption caused by the media meltdown. He has provided research and consultancy on topics as diverse as creating multi-screen content, harnessing social media, making e-publishing pay, and mapping the future of TV.
Thomas’ appointment will bolster Informa Telecoms & Media’s strategic decision to merge its Broadband and TV research divisions earlier this year.
“The phenomenal success of the BBC’s iPlayer, NetFlix and Hulu proves that no operator or content provider can afford to view the broadband and TV markets in isolation,” said Gallagher. “Nick’s considerable experience of leading and advising TV and digital media businesses means he is perfectly placed to help our clients to understand and address such convergence.”
“I am delighted to be joining Informa, especially at such an exciting time for the media and telecoms industries,” said Nick Thomas. “The growth of broadband, the proliferation of devices and the growing demand for many types of content mean that the sector is changing more rapidly than at any time in our history.
“I look forward to providing strategic and actionable advice to our clients, helping them both meet the challenges and seize the opportunities.”
Thomas joins Informa Telecoms & Media from Forrester Research. Previously, he held senior editorial and executive roles at an array of media companies, including Associated Press Television News and the UK Press Association.
