Just learned – EBSCO is to purchase H.W. Wilson. Wilson will reportedly be closing its Bronx office and moving the operations to Ipswich, Mass. More to come!

Yes, this is correct. New York staff have been given 3 months’ notice. The Wilson Dublin office will be closed with the loss of 40 jobs. Wilson abstracting and indexing will be outsourced or carried out in Ipswich. Many are already written in India or the Philippines. Quality of Wilson products has steadily declined in recent years and will continue to do so.
before ebsco acquired wilson, wilson’s abstracts are accurate summary of every articles available in wilson’s databases. as well, wilson’s index terms are standardized/controlled. After the merger, ebsco’s abstracts are uploaded in the wilson web and one can easily see the quality difference between wilson’s and ebsco’s abstracts.
