ATG Hot Topic of the Week: iCloud
Hot Topic Friday June 10, 2011
Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, miraculously the energized bunny of consumer electronics, announces Apple’s i-Cloud service. Apple is not the first on the horizon and probably not the last; i-Cloud joins the big sky of cloud capitalists of Amazon, Google, and Facebook. Right now, like the others, i-Cloud is free and will allow Apple device users the ability to sync content across all their i-toys. In library land, OCLC owns the cloud but like real clouds it will be fleeting as others get the idea. Unfortunately, no one forecasts the cloud will lower costs.
Oh, by the way, Jobs also is killing the MAC (and the PC it goes without saying…)
