Short-term PHP job ($20/hr)

Hi fellow (ex)SILSters,

I’m doing a research project and am looking for an experienced PHP developer. The task is to help build an application that gathers and stores data about scholarly articles from a variety of Web applications’ APIs. These include Wikipedia, Delicious, Facebook, Mendeley, and others.

The application is initially being used for scholarly impact assessment by the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center (NESCent) in Durham, NC. It will be released under an MIT license.

*Required qualifications*

Experience writing modern, object-oriented PHP, with unit testing and version control. Work may be conducted remotely.

*Preferred qualifications*

Experience with Github (for version control), PHPUnit (for test-driven development), Phing (for automated builds), and PHPDoc (for documentation), and CouchDB. Prior experience performing independent contractor work for UNC Chapel Hill or Duke University.

*Compensation*

$20/hr (negotiatiable), based on an estimate of the effort required to complete the work. Anticipated effort 100-200 hours.
