Research literature from China listed in MEDLINE

From Springer, Feb. 10, 2011:

The two Springer journals Frontiers of Medicine and Protein & Cell were added to MEDLINE, the world’s most important literature database for medical and biomedical articles, in January. The two journals are co-published by Springer and its Chinese publishing partner Higher Education Press. Both journals are part of the Chinese Library of Science, a collection of more than 90 Springer journals.

Frontiers in Medicine has a broad scope in basic and clinical research. In addition to medicine, the range of topics covers epidemiology, traditional Chinese medicine, translational research, health policies, healthcare, and public health in China. The journal describes state-of-the-art Chinese diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in medicine.

Protein & Cell publishes original research articles, reviews, and commentaries concerning the latest developments in multidisciplinary areas in biology and biomedicine, with an emphasis on protein and cell research. The journal presents research highlights and news covering research policies and funding trends in China.

Both publications have been managed and organized by an international editorial board since they started publication. The members of the editorial board are renowned researchers and experts in the field of medicine and the life sciences, thus guaranteeing the highest academic standards of the articles and supporting effective manuscript review processes. Springer uses various alert services, such as table of contents (ToC) e-mail alerts, informing interested readers about the contents of the forthcoming issue, and press releases to ensure that the journals are widely promoted. This results in very high levels of visibility for the journals and increased downloads for each article. The publication of Online First papers, which appear long before the printed version, ensures that the journal articles can be accessed through the SpringerLink platform as quickly as possible.

Springer has offered Chinese research literature in English since 2006, working with other prestigious Chinese publishers, learned societies and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It now publishes more than 90 academic journals in its Chinese Library of Science, available through www.springerlink.com.
