The program will bring together publishers, librarians, and technology developers to discuss how they are responding to the daunting challenge of identifying, acquiring, processing, transmitting, and storing incredible amounts of digital content across all media and across a growing amount of foreign languages. Practical approaches currently being implemented will be discussed along with emerging technologies holding promise for the future. such as augmented reality, machine thinking, semantic search, cloud computing, automated translations and more.
The opening keynote address will be a thought-provoking look at the complex problems and entrepreneurial opportunities offered by today’s information explosion from Dan Gillmor, author of We the Media, and the Miles Conrad Memorial Lecture will be given by award recipient Dr. Ben Shneiderman, Professor and Founding Director of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory, University of Maryland.
