Lenny Schrift Memory
submitted by Anthony Ferguson, University of Hong Kong (ferguson@HKUCC.hku.hk):
Roger mentioned Lenny Schrift on the front page of the November issue of ATG. I remember Lenny lecturing me in about 1986 when we took the standing orders away from his company and gave them to BNA. He said that at one time libraries would get discounts when they bought serials, instead of paying service charges. He noted that the trend to consolidate book orders would lead libraries down the path which would ultimately see them pay monograph vendors a service charge instead of receiving a discount.
