EBSCO Endorses KBART Recommended Practice

As a knowledge base provider, EBSCO officially endorses the Knowledge Base and Related Tools (KBART) Recommended Practice and is committed to ongoing support of the KBART initiative. Commissioned by NISO and UKSG, the KBART Working Group has established guidelines for the timely exchange of metadata between content providers and knowledge base developers.

“I am thrilled to be able to endorse the KBART initiative,” says Sheri Meares, manager of EBSCO’s Integrated Knowledge Base content and quality team. “One of the biggest challenges we face is obtaining consistent, up-to-date title lists from content providers. As more publishers and vendors move toward KBART it becomes much easier to maintain the high-quality knowledge base expected by our customers.”

This endorsement confirms EBSCO’s commitment to the KBART guidelines and the ability of the EBSCO Integrated Knowledge Base to accept KBART-compliant files from content providers. The EBSCO Integrated Knowledge Base serves as the foundation for a number of EBSCO products, including EBSCO A-to-Z®, a complete Web-based tool for organizing and providing links to all of a library’s e-resources, LinkSource®, EBSCO’s vendor-neutral OpenURL link resolver, EBSCO’s MARC Updates service and EBSCONET® ERM Essentials™.
