Licensing – it’s not just for serials anymore! The rise in popularity of e-books and streaming media means that acquisitions and collection development librarians need to examine the impact of new licensing models on their collections and workflows. This workshop for license managers with some experience will cover new formats, emerging standards (DLF-ERMi, SERU, ONIX-PL) and their impact on policies and procedures; staffing and workflow; and negotiations-both local and consortial.

The ALA is always an outstanding conference. I am looking forward to attending this event. The topic is of keen interest. I also attended the BEA in New York. I found myself utterly moved by a beautifully written book: Little Gifts of Sustainable Contentment by C.J. Good. The rise in popularity of ebooks and new models such as this, provide compelling and difficult challenges for our libraries of the future. I am excited about the ALCTS pre-conference and the topic: Taming the Tiger. See you there.
