Apologies Notwithstanding
Have you noticed? So many public persons are issuing apologies these days. Tiger Woods. The Pope. The Israelies. Not enough Republicans and/or Democrats. Especially the latter political groups- all those people spitting and hurling stones, my goodness, they need to chill out.
What apologies should I issue? Not sure, but here are a couple for starters:
I apologize for being negative. Gosh, is this such a sin compared to some of the bigger issues out there? But I admit, I’ve learned SO much by having had people who I considered friends stop being such simply because I was considered negative.
I apologize for being lazy. I just have not pulled my weight all the time, admittedly.
I apologize for not being intellectually rigorous at all times. I waste time on silly skits, blogs and Facebook. Oh well.
I apologize for being irritatingly happy at times. I am very thankful for being able to do this.
What I DO NOT apologize for:
Trying to be honest as possible. In my youth I lied alot and I decided at some point to stop doing that. I’ve never looked back since.
I don’t apologize f0r enjoying life. And being thankful that I can do it.
I don’t care what people think much anymore. And I won’t apologize for that.
This all comes with age, I do believe.
And I don’t apologize for that either – and nothing I can do about it.

I come from a culture where personal matters were never aired in public, so I find myself a little confused about whether the apology syndrome is “healthy” (reassuring us that everyone makes mistakes) or some kind of queasy downgrading of human integrity. (?)
